The role provides hands-on technical leadership across VMware Cloud Foundation, vSphere, ESXi, vCenter Server, vSAN, NSX, Aria, HCX, disaster recovery, automation, and supporting infrastructure integrations. It is accountable for platform operations, architecture guidance, operational stability, performance, capacity, resilience, security, lifecycle management, and technology across datacenter and hybrid cloud environments.

The role drives platform modernization, automation, standardization, and continuous improvement while acting as the technical authority for complex incidents, major changes, upgrades, migrations, workload placement, platform design, and operational risk decisions.
  • Act as the technical owner and subject matter expert for enterprise VMware virtualization and private cloud platforms
  • Provide hands-on platform administration and advanced technical support across VMware Cloud Foundation, vSphere, ESXi, vCenter Server, vSAN, NSX, Aria, HCX, and integrated infrastructure services
  • Define and maintain platform roadmaps, reference architectures, technical standards, configuration baselines, build patterns, and operational procedures
  • Lead the technical design, implementation, integration, optimization, and lifecycle management of VMware platforms across datacenter and hybrid cloud environments
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for complex incidents and recurring platform issues, leading deep technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and permanent remediation
  • Provide technical governance and risk assessment for major changes, upgrades, migrations, architecture deviations, and workload placement decisions
  • Design and implement automation using PowerCLI, PowerShell, VMware Aria Automation, Terraform, Ansible, and APIs to improve consistency, reduce manual effort, and strengthen reliability
  • Drive proactive platform health management through observability, performance tuning, capacity forecasting, configuration compliance, vulnerability remediation, and technology currency
  • Lead VMware Cloud Foundation and software-defined datacenter capabilities across compute, storage, networking, security, automation, and observability
  • Establish and validate platform resilience, including High Availability, fault-domain design, backup integration, replication, VMware Live Site Recovery / Site Recovery Manager, recovery testing, and business continuity readiness
  • Plan and execute platform patching, firmware and software upgrades, certificate lifecycle activities, hardware refreshes, and component interoperability validation
  • Assess emerging VMware/Broadcom capabilities and supporting technologies, recommending adoption based on security, supportability, operational value, cost, and enterprise standards
  • Develop technical documentation, knowledge articles, operational runbooks, and reusable operational standards to improve supportability and knowledge transfer
  • Collaborate with architecture, security, network, storage, backup, cloud, application, and vendor teams to resolve technical dependencies and deliver reliable platform services
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to technical teams and stakeholders without direct supervisory or performance-management accountability
